Professor Harminder Singh Dua CBE FRCS is an Indian-British medical doctor and researcher. He is the chair and professor of ophthalmology at University of Nottingham and is the head of the Division of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Prior, he was associate professor at the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA when he was invited to chair in Nottingham in April 1994. He earlier did his Graduation in Medicine from Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur.

Dua is also the co-editor in chief with Arun Singh of the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He was president of EuCornea, the European society of Cornea and Ocular surface disease specialists. He is also president of the EVERf (European Association for Vision and Eye Research Foundation) and past president of the association itself. He was elected to the chair of Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis and invited to join as member of the American Ophthalmological Society by thesis. In March 2011 he was elected president of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK commencing his duties on 25 May 2011. He has over 200 research publications, 20 published letters, and 14 book chapters to his credit.

Dua was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to eye healthcare, health education and ophthalmology. In March 2021 he was appointed to the ceremonial post of Sheriff of Nottingham for 2021-22.

Lyndon da Cruz began his medical career in Perth, Western Australia. In 1982 he was awarded the Inaugural Reynolds Scholarship to study medicine at St Georges College, University of Western Australia. He was awarded the State Health Department research prize for public health during his studies. A degree in Philosophy and Physiology took him to Oxford University in 1990 and following the degree he remained in the UK to complete the fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists based at the Oxford Eye Hospital. In 1995 he returned to Western Australia on an Australian Medical Research Council (MRC) Scholarship where he was awarded a PhD from UWA for his research on Gene Transfer to the Retinal Pigment Epithelium in 1999. He completed the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists and the first of his sub-specialty retinal fellowships.

In 2000 he was nominated the Menzies Scholar for Australia by the Australian MRC and the Menzies Foundation. Also, in the same year, he was awarded the Howard Florey Fellowship from the Royal Society that brought him to Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Ophthalmology in Retinal Gene therapy and medical and surgical retinal fellowships at Moorfields. In 2003 he was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in medical and surgical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was appointed Professor of Retinal Stem Cell and Transplantation Surgery at UCL. He is Chief Investigator and surgeon for the bionic eye implantation project in London and is currently clinical lead on The London Project for transplanting stem-cell-derived retinal cells for patients with Macular Degeneration. He is the head of the department of vitreo-retinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr El-Dairi is Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmologist currently an associate professor at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA.

She went to medical school and did her ophthalmology residency at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon then moved to Duke for her pediatric then neuro-ophthalmology fellowships. She has been on faculty at Duke University since 2009.

She has a special interest in optic nerve head development and imaging in pediatric neuro-ophthalmology. Most of her research has been in describing the use of optical coherence tomography in normal children as well as in pediatric neurologic diseases and glaucoma.

In collaboration with her Duke pediatric ophthalmology team, they reported on racial variations of optic nerve head and macular OCT in children and infants, described the use of OCT in grading glaucoma severity, pediatric papilledema, and optic pathway gliomas.
